Slaven Tsintsarski - 2006 Recipient
My name is Slaven Tsintsarski. I was awarded the Mather Zeolite Scholarship in June, 2006. I am currently a sophomore in DePaul University. My major is Computer Science. So far, my college career is going without any significant "bumps". I am maintaining a 3.5 GPA and doing well in my classes. In so far as my career developments are concerned, I am happy to share with you that I recently completed a 4 month internship at Hydro INC, a Chicago based company which produces, sells and supports pump equipment. I interned there as IT support from October 2007-January 2008. It was a very worthwhile experience - it motivated me to continue looking for more internship experience.
I find scholarships a great alternative to all other types of financial aid. Not only do they help finance one's higher education, but they also give a feeling of accomplishment and reward. I believe that the Zeolite scholarship, in particular, gives something more - the feeling that your high school is backing you up in your undertaking of completing college. That is why I think that the Mather Zeolite Scholarship is a great way to encourage Mather graduates to pursue higher education and reward the most distinguished of them. I certainly hope that the Zeolite Scholarship will continue for many years and help out many new Mather graduates.
